Official "Go" Date Feb 13th

We're going to the Netherlands! First stop New York City on the evening of Feb 13th and departing from NYC about 48 hours later for Amsterdam. Then a train to Almelo were Derreck will be working. And we'll be living in Hengelo, about 20km SE of Almelo. We are so excited. While we are in NYC we plan to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Bldg and who knows what else, maybe even a Broadway show!
The kids and I will be staying no more than 90 days, while Derreck will be there most likely until the end of the year. After much prayer and discussion we decided that would be the best thing for the family, though hard on us all. The good thing is after the kids and I come back home Derreck will have a week to come home every 2 months and we will have the opportunity to go back out also.
We love you all and will miss you and look forward to seeing you on our return. Please keep us in your prayers and know you will be in ours. We will still have our same email accounts so please send us emails!

Congratulations on the job and your upcoming trip, it should be a great adventure. While in NY you should take the kids to Mars 2112, its a restaurant located at 51st and Broadway, Aiden loves it, we have to go every time we are in the city. You can check out the website at Time square at night is amazing with all of the bright signs, street performers a must see in NY. Also in time square you have the Toys-R-Us store with the Ferris wheel, the M&M and Hershey stores. Most of the Broadway shows will sell a small amount of tickets the day of the show for a really good price and they are usually good seats to. Check the web sites of the shows you would like to see for how this process works. I would recommend the Lion King, The Blue man Group (off Broadway), The little Mermaid and Marry Poppins which we are going to see on March 30th. The subways in NY are an experience but a bit scary, take cabs, the driving will scare you at first but you get use to it, kind of. Have fun and feel free to call me at any time if you have any questions while in New York, my cell number is 860-287-2396.
Have a great time,
